Engine-Lab Bicycle Sizing and Stem Adjustment

Open tab

Engine Lab bikes feature different frame sizes and configurations to fit a wide variety of body types, with adjustable touch points to fine tune the final fit. Please consult the fit chart on each
bicycle model page for the recommended height range. The geometry chart on each
model page is designed to help easily understand the size of each bike, with minimum and maximum seat height and standover height (the height of the top-tube in the center of the bike where you would “stand over” the bike) called out. Engine-Lab bikes feature traditional roughly horizontal top-tube
frames and step-thru frames that allow you to mount and dismount without lifting your leg over the bike as high.

Seat Height: For pedaling efficiency and proper fit it is best that the seat height is adjusted so that when the pedal is in the 6 o’clock position (completely down and the bottom of the pedal rotation) that the knee remain only slightly bent.

Stem Adjustment: Engine-Lab E450 models are equipped with an adjustable stem to fine tune your most comfortable fit.

Step 1

1.Use 6mm hex key to loosen side adjusting bolt.

2.Adjust stem angle to the position you desired.

3.Use 6mm hex key tighten side adjusting bolt to required torque of 18Nm.

Step 2

1.After adjusting stem to desired angle , use 4mm hex key to loosen 4 bolts on handle bar stem face plate and rotate handle bar to a comfortable position, recommended as horizontal to the ground or angled slightly down, no more than 5º.

2.Tighten 4 stem face plate bolts with 4mm allen key to required torque of 6Nm. Always tighten bolts in X sequence as shown.

Disc Brake Noise or Rubbing

Open tab

Disc brakes are powerful and reliable with minimal maintenance, but can require adjustments after wheel removal/installation and as the brake pads wear. It is important to center the disc rotor in the caliper upon initial installation.

Disc brakes often make noise during normal operation, on long descents, and when momentarily contaminated with water or dirt. Loose calipers or rotors, oil contaminants, or poor caliper alignment may cause noise and poor performance.

If you are in need of assistance please sent us images and videos of the problem at support@enginelab.bike

Electrical Motor: Pedal Assist vs Throttle

Open tab

Pedal Assist:  Pedal assist utilizes sensors that acknowledge your pedaling to provide motor assist. The Engine-Lab E450 uses a frame mounted cadence sensor to measure pedal speed and adjust motor assist level. Simply spinning the cranks will apply a given amount of assistance.

Throttle: In addition to pedal assist, the E450 features a right hand thumb throttle. Throttle can be applied at any time, from a standstill or while pedaling up to a maximum speed of 20 mph.

Battery Charging

Open tab

The Engine-Lab E450 ships with a wall plug fast charger that will provide you will a full charge overnight. You can charge the battery with it either mounted in the frame ready to ride, or on its own outside of the bicycle at your convenience.

Water Resistance

Open tab

The Engine-Lab E450 is water
resistant rated IP-65. The bike is not waterproof, and we do not recommend leaving the bicycles out in the rain, but the E450 can handle water exposure during normal use. It is important to check that the charge port cover is closed. Failure to do so will allow water/ moisture to enter the charge port which can then destroy your battery and or cause bodily harm when the charger is plugged in.
